On the National League of Postmasters website, ther is a letter dated Jan. 29,2010, titled “The Abusive Treatment of Postmasters and the Ineffectual Post Office Management Practices of Upper Level USPS Managers”. The writer is asking all members, nationwide, to write letters to their congressmen, telling them about the terrible working conditions endured by PMs because of the “grave staffing inadequacies. I think that now would be the perfect time for ALL postal employees do the same. Potter’s leaving, new PM, new election. Every employee knows how bad things are at the PO. Many employees have great ideas on how to change things for the better. You know your jobs and the best way to do them. Not by their numbers or reports. We must be able to do our jobs without harassment, without insults and name calling. This has been going on for years and it’s getting worse. The Postal big shots want to get rid of all career employees { lower level managers and supervisors, too} and replace them with TE’s PMR’s and 204b’s. If you want to fight for your job, get writing. It’s not going to get any better if you don’t. Don’t wait for someone else to fight for you, do not depend on your unions. Stand up, grow a pair and make your voice heard, now. Tell all your coworkers to do the same.
Be dignified, polite and honest. Explain all problems as briefly as possible and do not make sarcastic remarks. Tell it like it is. Congress cannot ignore thousands of letters.
