AMP Holding, Inc. Advances in the USPS Next Generation Delivery Vehicle (NGDV) Program as a Prequalified Supplier

Here is a press release from AMP Holding Inc.

CINCINNATI, Ohio, April 14, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — via PRWEB – AMP Holding Inc. (OTCQB: AMPD) the parent company of AMP Electric Vehicles Inc., today announced that the United States Postal Service has informed AMP that the company has advanced in the Next Generation Delivery Vehicle (NGDV) program as a prequalified supplier.

AMP had submitted information outlining the potential cost savings to the USPS of making deliveries in the AMP Workhorse E-GEN(TM) electric truck. AMP’s factory has the capacity to produce 60,000 vehicles per year, a production number needed to nationally deploy 180,000 new USPS vehicles over a three-year span. Workhorse E-GEN trucks are designed to meet or exceed the 20-year useful life and 150,000-mile range requirements of the NGDVs.

The NGDV project is expected to replace 180,000 vehicles, which represents the largest ever fleet replacement order in history. With an expected price of $25,000 to $35,000 per vehicle, the value of the contract to be awarded could potentially be in excess of $6 billion for the successful applicant. As a small, but growing, manufacturer in the EV space, AMP is delighted and privileged to be on the short list for the next phase of the application process.

“We have always considered ourselves a next generation vehicle manufacturer,” said Steve Burns, AMP CEO. “It is an honor for us to move to the next step in this important Post Office program.”

Considering that the typical USPS delivery truck travels an average of only 15 miles driven per day, the AMP E-GEN vehicles are a perfect fit to the driving style, and AMP believes its vehicles offer the lowest total cost of ownership of any drive system available today.

“There are key benefits to the Post Office considering our family of E-GEN electric trucks,” continued Burns. “When you think of the USPS stop-and-go driving, the extremely low maintenance of our vehicles, and an efficient design to help with package delivery, E-GEN really is a next generation vehicle.”

When considering a 20-year life truck, AMP feels that drone delivery should be taken into consideration as well. AMP’s optional integrated HorseFly(TM) package delivery drone would increase the number of packages a “Next Generation USPS truck” can deliver in a day. This unique technology has the potential to make the USPS an extremely efficient and green delivery fleet, while also serving up cost savings to significantly improve their bottom line.
