USPS Opens Village Post Office in Lake City, PA

PITTSBURGH — Lake City Family Laundry Center, located at 1591 Lake Street, makes history on Monday, April 16 as it becomes the latest Village Post Office (VPO) and first in the Western PA District. The Village Post Office is part of the Postal Service’s initiative to provide expanded access to Postal products.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place Monday, April 16, at 11 a.m. at Lake City VPO, 1591 Lake Street, Lake City, PA 16423.

The Lake City Village Post Office – with operating hours Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. – offers sales of stamps and accepts pre-paid packages. The new VPO will also carry Expedited packaging (free Priority and Express Mail Flat-Rate boxes and envelopes) for added convenience in mailing packages.

Village Post Offices are operated by local businesses and offer popular products and services such as stamps and Flat-Rate packaging. The VPO concept was established in response to the changing mailing needs of the American consumer as more and more customers demand easier, more convenient access to Postal products and services where they are conducting business in their communities.

Post Office Operations Manager Junius Johnson will officiate the ribbon-cutting ceremony with assistance by Lake City Family Laundry proprietor Mark Dickson.

With 32,000 Postal retail offices and more than 70,000 third-party retailers – Approved Postal Providers – selling postage stamps and providing expanded access to Postal products, customers today have nearly 100.000 locations across the nation where business can be done with the Postal Service including the Post Office that never sleeps online at www.usps.com. The USPS website allows customers to enter their ZIP codes to find locations where Postal products and services – including VPOs – are available.
