Rumors and a Message from President Rapoza
March 16, 2012
The NAPUS National Office has been hearing from many Postmasters concerning rumors on Voluntary Early Retirements (VERs) and retirement incentives for those who are eligible to retire. The rumor mill is alive and well, and while many of the things that have been published may have credibility, there has been no official announcement from the Postal Service on VER’s or incentives for retirement eligible employees. Please look for updates on these and other important developments as they are officially announced, by checking the NAPUS website, Breaking News page.
Rumors are a natural occurence during times like these, but nothing will replace the facts, and that can only happen when an official announcement is made by the Postal Service. You can be assured that your NAPUS leaders are involved with postal leaders and nothing will be published until it is official.
NAPUS President, Bob Rapoza has issued a message to NAPUS members in response to a mass mailing that was sent to Postmasters this week from the National Association of Postal Supervisors (NAPS,) inviting Postmasters to join the supervisory organization. The Postal Service does not recognize NAPS as a representative for Postmasters in the consultative process for planning and developing pay policies and schedules, fringe benefit programs, and other programs relating to Postmasters.
