USPS, NAPUS and League Agree to Postmaster Pay Talks Extension

An agreement has been reached between the Postal Service and the two Postmaster organizations (NAPUS and the League of Postmasters) to extend Postmaster pay talks until February 29, 2012. The original deadline for discussions on pay and benefits for Postmaster for Fiscal Years 2011-2015 was scheduled to end on January 27, 2012.

NAPUS President Bob Rapoza said that the talks should continue as long as meaningful discussions continue to move forward. Both organizational Presidents jointly notified the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) that the Postal Service had agreed to extend the discussions until the end of February. A decision on whether the two Postmaster organizations will request a resumption of the mediation process will be made after that date.

Talks continue to focus on minimum and maximum salary range improvements, health benefits contribution rates and changes to the Performance Evaluation System (PES.) Please check the NAPUS website for updates.

  1. Decrease cost reduce numbers. The need for number of offices that exist in this day and age is a waste. The need has past away with time due to demographic changes, growth of surburban areas, and modern transportation and roads systems. No longer have to read by candle, travel by horse back , or use a telephone operator to make a long distance phone call, or purchase goods from a rolling store, This day and time one can get in a metal tube known as a jet airplane and travel from New York, to Seattle, Wash. in 4-5 hrs. when in past times 6-8 months by covered wagon travel, The reality is times have changed it now takes less people and locations to provide services that in the past required massive outlets and people. Reduce number of Posmasters as the needs do not exist that justify number of offices that exist in the age of advanced technology.

  2. Unhappy with APWU? Unhappy with the contract? Unhappy with the level of representation you’re getting? Unhappy with loss of 40 hour jobs?

OCCUPY APWU at the 2012 Convention in Los Angeles (August 20-24) at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel (404 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA)

    OTHERWISE:

Shut up and keeping paying dem dues! And, by the way…stay in line all you lemmings!

  3. how about making the lazy ,abusive, dictators accountable for their poor decisions
and fire them. Postmasters should be in charge of three offices not one. Also get rid of the postmaster name which dates back to slavery, head clown or assistant head clown works.
