USPS program to recycle mobile devices underway

The Postal Service is participating in a “Mobile Device Recycling Program,” sponsored by BlackBerry manufacturer Research in Motion.

In addition to helping the environment by recycling unused mobile devices, the program — administered within USPS by IT and Asset Management — awards USPS in the form of credits on the purchase of new products. To date, the Postal Service has earned approximately $20,000 in credits.

USPS can earn additional credits if employees send in their unused or out-of-date devices to the program before an Aug. 12 deadline. Send the devices to:
