USPS Clarifies Role Of PSEs Replacing Postmasters

NAPUS leaders met with Postal Headquarters officials for the second time in less than a month, as questions continue to remain on how the APWU contract will impact staffing and operational issues in post offices.

In response to rumors that one Postal Support Employee (PSE) may be used to replace Postmasters in multiple offices, on a rotating schedule and require some Postmasters to work Saturdays, Postal officials said that “PSEs will be used to do what PMRs use to do.”  “PSE’s will cover Postmaster non-scheduled days off and leave replacement, just as PMR’s did.”

  1. Instead of whining about your negativity and all the horrible things you have to put up with in your cushy government, unionized job, why don’t you try working for a living for a change! You goddamn lazy, cry baby rich federal employees. Talk about a haven of socialism!

  2. rmc. Why leave a full time job to work for a company that is downsizing ? Are you aware the Postmaster General stated that half of the 32,000 post offices will close within the next 6 to 7 years? Don’t believe it. It will be sooner than that. Forgive my negativism, but it has developed over 24 years with the Postal Service. You may work for a year as a PSE, but I doubt if you will be rehired. A good way for the Postal Service to avoid providing additional benefits. My advice is to stay where you are. The uncertainty of the future of the Postal Service is something we have to deal with everyday.

  3. We already know that, supervisor!Just like the kids of today… they don’t want o work either, they just want to collect the $$$$$$$$. good luck with that.

  4. just wondering about the PSE. I am currently a full-time State employee but an comcerned about SB5 so I applied at the USPS for a PSE position in the Distribution center. Its 36-44 Hrs. a week. Any possibility it will go full time permanent?? I was told it could but just want to know how likely it will be. Im afraid to leave my full time job.
    Thanks!!!!

  5. Sounds good. All they really do is enter data on the Computers. Send out “Form letters”, relay information from the top. They should be producing electricity or somthing that requires effort!

  6. I think having a PSE take over several offices would be great. I already as a clerk do more in my office that the PM. He can’t seem to find enough to keep himself busy so he works on causing as much hate and discontent within his office as he can. If he has time to sit in his office and think of ways to cause prblems he has time to go be a traveling PM. Hey lets all share shall we. Maybe if they actually work for a living the won’t have time to continually harrass the help.
