APWU Members Against Ratification of Tentative Agreement

Randy Zelnick has created a page on 21st Century Postal Worker for APWU Members against Ratification of the APWU Tentative Contract Agreement.

FACTS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU VOTE

This page will attempt to provide FULL Disclosure with regard to the proposed language in the Tentative Agreement. There will be little spin and mostly concise language right from the contract with minimal interpretation. The decision on how each of you vote will be left up to the Democratic process and hopefully common sense. Over the next few days we will add information to this page outlining our beliefs on the negative affects to the Membership if this Tentative Agreement is passed.

The contract is still being developed and language could still be added after you vote as per, Number 8 under the First Memorandum of Understanding on page 167 which states, “The parties have reached agreements and agreements in principle on additional contract provisions and new MOU’s as well as understandings on various changes in contract language. Those additions and changes are attached as part of this tentative agreement or are currently being finalized by the parties.” Does this mean, if you vote yes we will later tell you what you voted yes on?

  1. “Every little thing” adds up to the whole picture, which, is the end of the clerk craft as we know it. Management will twist the wording around to eliminate most 40 hour jobs, and you can be excessed every 90 days until MAYBE you finally get a real 40 hour bid job, oh yes that’s for real, they are already making changes in our office in anticipation of the field day they will have, sorry, but try again, vote NO.

  2. Well thanks to Cliff Puffy, if we go to Arbitration now, the arbitrators now have an idea of what the union will accept for the workers. I been a chief steward for over a decade, but if this is what are union has become, I’m joining the ranks of management. At least I will be working for a dick head with better pay and benefits.

  3. I BELIEVE THIS IS A GOOD CONTRACT. I ALSO BELIEVE THE WAY MANAGEMENT WAS ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE SOCIETY AGAINST US THEY WOULD HAVE MADE US MAKE THE SAME CONCESSIONS THAT OUR CITY WORKERS ARE HAVING TO ACCEPT, I.E. FURLOUGH DAYS WITH NO PAY, PAY MORE FOR HEALTH PLAN, PAY FREEZE FOR THE TOTAL PERIOD OF OUR CONTRACT WITH NO COLA’S. ANYTIME WE HAVE TO GO BEFORE AN ARBITRATOR, WE TAKE A RISK OF INFLUENCE OF REPUBLICAN AND TEA PARTY AFFILIATES DEMEANING WHAT THE UNION STANDS FOR. AFTER THE WISCONSIN FIASCAL IS NOT A TIME TO PUT OUR FATE IN THE ARBITRATORS HANDS. I BELIEVE OUR OFFICERS DID AN EXCELLENT JOB AND THEY SHOULD BE COMMENDED ON THEIR EFFORTS AND HARD WORK ON THIS CONTRACT INSTEAD OF STANDING BACK AND STABBING IN THE BACK ABOUT EVERY LITTLE THING. IF WE LOOK AT THE WHOLE PICTURE THE APWU HAS LOST NOTHING AND WE ARE STILL MOVING FORWARD. VOTE YES ON THE TENTATIVE AGREEMENT!

  4. I showed a copy to one of my union reps of the interview of Post Master Donahoe on federal news radio to get his take on it, and the heading reads ” USPS defends contract”
His response was “oh that’s a good thing isn’t it the post office is on our side”
    SINCE WHEN
Now my next question is how do we know to trust this board of twits to honestly count our votes

  5. I’d like to see all non-union members declared exempt from any existing or future APWU contracts – Oh, I was ONCE a member… but when it was clear how their concepts were not my own and how incredibly corrupt the APWU leadership was I OPTED OUT! And, I demand that same status now.

I don’t consider myself to be bound by ANY negotiations allegedly conducted upon my behalf and I urge ALL non-union members to declare the same in a very LOUD voice.

Perhaps if we stand together -as the unions is quick to claim- well have as much authority over them as much as they like to think they have over us.

  6. Joe Shevlin is president of the most dangerous local in the APWU!! Management hates us and especially Joe. THIS IS NO JOKE, but a way to get you to take notice. Cliff and his merry band of ass kissers is trying to sell you a bag of magic beans! DON’T BUY IT!! VOTE NO!!!!!

  7. APWU members paying for management failures to deal with loosing revenue and management wasteful spending. Wasted large so called executive salaries whom failed to produce any monetary results and like the other parasites received Pay for failing to Preform.
The smart thing to do to give stability to all craft employees salary and benefits is to stop Saturday delivery as all crafts what is delivered and rural carriers work 5 to 6 hours a day and get paid on evaluated hours. Gas prices are not going down
Locals got the shaft and all APWU members lost in the long term..

  8. If this contract isn’t ratified, you do realize that National APWU will be looking to pay back all those locals that came out against their garbage tentative agreement. They can be very ugly to those who do not walk lock step with them. Your local will be black balled by National for a very long time. Trust me, I know these jerks and how they clandestingly operate. Hope you don’t need National later down the road, cause you ain’t getting any help from them brother! You and your local has been Marked

  9. Send email to me and I will send it out to the members of Westerly (RI) local 621. Its a small local but as long as the rings go out.

Met you at the Irish Times a couple of hours before the ‘briefing’. You are what you say you are. Union Forever. Guff doesn’t have Burris stuff.
