Alabama postal worker gets 5 years probation for dumping 371 pieces of mail

MOBILE, Ala – Another Mobile-area postal worker was sentenced last week for dumping mail on her route. U.S. District Judge Kristi DuBose sentenced Cynthia Dronet, 30, to five years’ probation, with the first six months under home confinement.

Dronet became the latest in a string of local postal workers who have been caught stealing or simply throwing away mail in unrelated cases. Eleven have been prosecuted in Mobile’s federal court since 2008. Questioned by postal inspectors, Dronet admitted what she had done and told authorities that she was having trouble completing her mail route on time.

  1. It is sad, but this poor young lady was caught up in an unfair situation. The demands on carriers to be back in the office by 5pm is putting undue pressure on these poor carriers. I bet you a dollar to a donut that there are many others doing the same thing but just haven’t been caught. Some of those city routes are immense and sometimes you just cant finish but face discipline if you come back to the office with mail. Shame on you postal management
