Sounds like things are getting pretty scandlous at the post office. It seems as if OIG is pretty much on top of small incidents, but my heart is still wandering where was all of the surveilence and concern and workplace protection when Nancy Rogers was murdered at the Hayward Post office. And why is it so hush-hush.

I was investigated and interrogated by OIG for possible FMLA fraud. I was out on comp; scheduled to return to limited duty on Feb. 8, 2010. I had preapproved A/L to visit my ailing father Feb. 9-20 as I didn't have enough work hrs. to cover FMLA dependent care. I used 4 hrs. S/L for my own chronic condition on Feb. 8. Upon returning to work on Feb 22 had a surprise visit by OIG. two stewards came in office with me. Halfway through interrogation a TE manager came into room and ordered more experienced rep out of office. This left me with a steward who has only 1 month stewardship. I was forced to answer questions about my chronic medical condition. I feel they took advantage of the stewards inexperience. the more experienced union rep would have advised me not to answer this private question about my own condition. What I had Aids or HIV? I was informed of my rights to retain an Attorney. OIG wanted to know date, time and airline I used for the trip. I told them if they had their facts striaght they would have known this. the 2 OIG agents abruptly ended the interrogation and quickly left the office.Shouldn't the station manager handled this before bringing in OIG? He could of just asked me for my documents. Is is true managers should discipline employees first before OIG?

Subcontract Postal Inspectors/OIG jobs out! This would save the Postal Service big money. These are overpaid police officers. I figure off duty police officers can do the same job just as well. Since the Postal Service wants to subcontract almost all jobs at the Postal Service. I believe this would prove to be a very big savings for the Postal Service. It probably would put the Postal Service back into the black again in their fiancially expenditure.

Garrity give you the right to speak with an attorney prior to questioning. I would advise anyone sitting across the table from OIG agents to exercise that right.

Netflix guy if you can't keep out of other peoples mail you should resign.

Everyone here has a good point, but need only to remember this.
1) the PI's and OIG are not your friends they are there to get points for having you removed.
2) Management is afraid of the OIG also, they will issue a removal based on the ROI and nothing else.
The issue of the steward being trained to deal with these issues, is based on your local. you should know is a steward or lawyer is your right option. But still request a steward to protect the process, it will at least give you time to gather yourself and calm your nerves.
To netflix guy: If the OIG shows up looking for you they have been watching you for months and have photo's and film. The PI's system of doing things are over.

Has anyone ever heard of "doing the RIGHT thing"? That would prevent there being an issue to begin with.
