From PostalReporter reader:

OPM updated their “Summary of Benefits Checklist Upon the Death of a Federal Employee” that agencies, like USPS, are supposed to use.  The PDF file is posted at http://www.opm.gov/retire/pubs/bals/2009/09-102attachment2.pdf.  This would be a useful reference for those people planning for or facing this situation.  Who knows how helpful HRSSC would be?

  2. This article/information about the Benefits Upon Death really should be published and distributed to each Federal Employee. Most likely whom ever is left behind won’t have a clue as to where to start. Not to mention the clear mind after dealing with a death. I am trying to have as much information to leave for my son, in the event, because I know the Postal Service has it’s own language that is not clear for the common person.

Let’s not make it even harder for those left behind.

Thank you, Marie Jones in Missouri
