Postal Workers In New Castle, PA Protesting Possible Consolidation of Mail Operations

From A PostalReporter.com reader:

On April 10, 2009, the US Postal Service (USPS) announced its intent to conduct an Area Mail Processing (AMP) Study to consolidate the mail processing operations of the New Castle Processing & Distribution Facility (P&DF) located at 435 S Cascade Street, New Castle, PA  16101 into the Pittsburgh Processing and Distribution Center (P&DC).

On April 30, 2009, USPS spokesman Tad Kelley indicated a shift in focus from consolidation to complete closure of the New Castle P&DF.

SaveNewCastleMail.com has been created to inform and organize all postal residents in the affected communities of the AMP study underway by the US Postal service so that their voices can be heard before it is too late.

Our mission is to prevent the massive delay of mail for residents and businesses whose mail is currently being processed in the top rated New Castle P&DF.  Our mission is also to prevent the loss of the New Castle postmark identity and the additional tremendous burden to the local economy from the loss of 200 jobs in the city of New Castle and surrounding communities.
