  1. I am not sure, what was going on during the first of the year. ASP Program ..I submit an application and took a test online.. that was, a very stupid test..I really felt like a nincompoop…I REALIZE i was a very intelligent and admirable person. And, i probably, would not have the quality and quantity of intelligent the USPS ASP PROGRAM was looking for..so i was told that i was ineligble and retake the test; this past 05/2010, which i did not follow-up…because i was approached by a 30-year employee, he said, “You will not become a supervisor, because you work hard and you actually care about people/co-workers. YOU ARE SMART ….and they hire only stupid people to be supervisors, because stupid people stand behind stupid people…and that I am not well like on the floor… I know, even at this facility, the 204b’s are not of good quality…i feel they do not want to work, so they pick a radio and go thru the motion…it can a testing ground of no good sense of character means..some of them of very stupid..when do i need a companion to tell me to do my job …i say i have done my job well..thank you..

  2. The 2O4b that is in our office never come to work half the time when she had to run her route. But now that she has had a little thing going on in the office she comes to work every day as a 204b.When another c rural carrier in our office is a 204b he stays on his cell phone and talks on the phone to his girlfriend ,Oh yeah they really are needed….

  3. OK-I see some people feel we have alot less quailified Supervisors-in some cases this is true.I for one work with one how they got promoted-they knew someone. In my office this Supervisor hardley works an 8 hour day, while others pick up their slack. This person comes in and goes home whenever they want, and swears they are owed. This happens alot-it is not what you know it is who you know. There are PM’s who know little to nothing on how to run an office, and continue to get promotions.I worked hard to get my position, and I still work hard, talk about coming in early-going home late and working thru lunch-why do I do this-you may ask-I care-funny as it may seem.I have made suggestions to upper management-and it goes no where.I worked in delivery, now I now I am a Finance Supervisor. At one time we were given some extra time to do Audits and return stamps-mind you it is not all the time. Recently I had to send back stamps,my lovely PM ( sarcastic )told me 3 days before that this had to be done, before I was going out on s/l for surgery, this was a little overwelming do to the fact I had 3 units to do. I asked to use some extra time ( and actually get paid )he said no the district had no extra money for this so I did the best I could. It is now a year and a half later-I had an OIG audit-at my Sub station-no big deal. Now this pencil pushers are telling me I have a shortage with my redeem stock. I had all my documentation for this showing stamps being returned and accepted. During this time we had our office had 3 OIC come and go,with a team of people getting all the financial paper work done going thru all the finances of this office, everything was in order.NOW they find a shortage-WHERE DID THIS COME FROM ? They want answers a year and a half later-YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING.Theren are always checks and balances-and if there is something that has to be adjusted for whatever reason,I do it. Do you want to know a joke-the Help desk,I am some idiot on the other line reading from a book telling me what to do-and half the time they do not know. The worst thing the Postal Service did was to get rid of the Finance Unit, these employees were great,if there was a problem you knew the next day and it was adjusted-no problem. Now you wait,it may take a month or later when something happens. Another joke, they used to send you your stamp shipments by Registered mail-now you recieve this shipment Prioity mail signature conformation,HELLOW we do not pay for poatage-we all know that sometimes prioity mail gets mis-directed,why create another problem-if it is not broke-do not fix it.Sometime the Postal Serice is it’s own worst enemy-trying to make things better-and it only gets worse. At one time our only concern was Customer service-delivering the mail collecting the mail and helping and giving the customers good service,WHAT SERVICE !! It is the good employees whether craft or management that get the shaft.I only have one more comment-How do you justify paying 204b’s overtime, and tell a Supervisor there is no T-Time,to do accountable work that needs to be done-like audits and returning old stock-this is their SOP
and it is only done when needed. I do not like coming in on my day off,I work enough time daily, but if I have to I will, stock and audits are part of my job. Let me see-204b ot compaired to T-time-that is a no brainer. They want to cut back-if there is no T-time there should be no ot for 204b’s. There are alot of employees that need Supervisor jobs and these 204b’s
holding done these positions-please send them back to their craft-where they are needed, and see how much money will be saved. I know for a fact-a 204b made close to $100,000.last year,is that cost effective-don’t think so. One question-is there anyone having problems with transmitting information with the POS NCR system-my office seems to be having this problem,at times info seems to fall into cyber space, with no expanation-except,from the Help desk except “our system crashed”call back HA HA.

  4. OH AND ONE MORE THING…
HAS NE1 NOTICED THAT WE HAVE THE LEAST AMOUNT OF EMPLOYEES EVER???? THEY R FIRING, RETIRING, QUITTING, ETC. BUT NOT HIRING. BUT YET WE HAVE THE SAME AMOUNT OF SUPERVISORS IF NOT MORE!!! IN OUR OFFICE IN AMARILLO, TX THEY CAME DOWN AND SAID OH WE’RE GETTING RID OF 4 SUPERVISOR POSITIONS OF WHICH ALL FOUR HAVE BEEN SHUFFLED HERE W/ NEW TITLES LIKE…. LIASON. UGH!!! DON’T THINK A CLERK OR NE1 ELSE WOULD GET THAT MUCH CONSIDERATION!!!

  5. OKAY, FOR THOSE OF U WHO THINK THE NEW STUPIDVISORS R OKAY…. THEY MAY BE OKAY AT FIRST BUT THEY R NOT ALLOWED TO ACTUALLY MANAGE. SOONER OR LATER THEY SHOW THEIR TRUE COLORS AND TURN ON U!!! MAKE NO MISTAKE THEY AIN’T IN IT TO MAKE A CHANGE FOR THE GOOD. ONLY TWO REASONS TO GO INTO MGMT…
    1) MONEY
    2) SO U DON’T HAVE TO WORK!!!
IM W/ MR. LARKIN…SUPPORT UR UNION!!!!

  6. How sad…..it is my hope they worked over a year in their ASP/204b positions and the Union finally pushes the contract and they are out!!! (This only applies to B’ham, AL as I don’t know the greatness of the other grads in the U.S.) Here the requirement is to have a relative/friend as a supervisor and you are in even if you can’t do anything or know anything.

  7. when i came in there were lots of complaints of “this is just like the army!” to which i would respond Whose Army? what century?

west point the citadel and vmi turned out professionals. maybe not every one of the alexander the great material, but competent enough to administrate a platoon.

i have yet to see a whiff of the professionalism in postal management that i saw in our army.

the missions may have been misguided sometimes, but we at least got there in good order.

  8. ASP has been suspended in NC for quite a while now, no big loss. It’s a huge waste of money and candidates learn more from good people doing the job (yes they do exist)

  9. so much for that letter the plant manager posted on our bid job board recruiting 204b’s supposedly for training for the ASP program…hehe

  10. What got us here in the first place is the economy, dumbass. Poor management just makes a bad situation worse.

  11. With all the management bashing going on here, it seems we should be able to deliver the mail without them.

What seems to be the concensus here is that we should fire management, hire more carriers and let them manage and deliver the mail themselves.

Then each carrier could then have 5 hours of work to spread out over 10 hours.. Unless the didnt want the overtime, then they could just get back in 8.

That would fix the Postal Service… No wait, that is what got us here in the first place…

I can hardly wait for the intelligent replies.

  12. What?? You mean no more “graduates” of the “Another Suckass Pathetic” class?? Will we be able to survive without another? What was astonishing is that they actually thought they graduated from some Ivy Leage Postal School! Hilarious!

  13. Too bad! Well now managers will just have to go to the local zoo and pick up a few chimps. Why not, at least the chimps will have more common sense!

  14. What a crock! Surely nobody sees this as a loss. For every one qualified supervisor that comes out of this, there are 40 other retards who are the children of, spouses of, or playmates of current management whose mission is to carry out whatever ridiculous objective is current in their area. Of the total number of promoted EAS employees nationwide, I believe that fewer than 50 are mentally stable and/or otherwise qualified to be allowed to walk while chewing gum!

  15. I was just in a new hire orientation yesterday, and the HR person was talking about how great the ASP program is and I should look into it for future growth within the usps…..Yeah right!

The USPS personnel nationally is not on the same page. While this program has been removed completely, they are still telling new hires that this program is something we can get into.

The USPS needs a total re-organization from the top down. Now they are trying to replace the retiring workforce with Transitional carriers (TE’s) that get no benefits, lower pay, and no guarantee of a job (even though they have to go through the same EXACT training as career carriers). This will ruin the moral of the future USPS workforce. When a federal agency starts working their new employees like slaves similar to a sweat shop, with no hope for a future, the writing will be on the wall for some bad BAD conflict within the workforce.

USPS ways are antiquated and old. Re-Organize and treat your new workers right!

  16. Archer, i would like to work with you. My experience is there are some good ones and many many bad ones. Most of the good ones go to the craft after trying mgmt. The bad ones stick around forever. I disagree about the new ones being better, though. Some of the new ones are worse than the old school types.

  17. Management is not you friend. Their job is to get the most from you for the least pay. It is an advisarial relationship and will never be anything else. Support your union!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. self management work at our station for two years until the union felt threatened that they were no longer needed and revoke the program. the carriers were going home in 7 hours every day but mondays and day after holidays. with no lunch or breaks. but we do that somewtimes any way!when it all was reverse management took 5 routes and gave eveyone a addition for punishment.so I would never go for that again. they said we are not going to pay you 8hours for seven hours work.so now we just drag it out.next time get it in writing!!!! remember Hymn 43.

  19. They should have froze ASP 2 years ago when they started figuring out that they were going to have to start getting rid of people.

I am not one of those blind jerks who think all supervisors are bad. Some of the newer ones coming up are actually ok people. They were not part of the militaristic authoriarianism that we were used to. They work with their employees, aren’t so quick to write them up, and give them time off more often than they deny requests for leave.

Those are the most junior supervisors, and when the ax comes, they will be the ones affectedm which means we will be stuck with the crappy 30 year old school dictators who love to write people up.

What I am wondering is, does this mean we go back to the 204B forever program? Because they still need supervisors to cover for the ones who are off burning up a years worth of leave before they retire.

  20. Wow, they will now have to go out and recruit the lazy idiots. Probably will go to AIG, Goldman Sachs, and other companies that have to many idiot managers.
